Selecting a Cremation Urn

Cremation urns are permanent memorials, and you can truly honor your loved one with a well-chosen design. There are a number of factors to consider when selecting cremation urns: design, construction materials, the final resting place, and whether the ashes will be scattered or divided among family members. There are a myriad of urn designs available, the most common being the vase-style and box-style. Urns can be constructed of various materials such as marble, bronze, wood, ceramic, glass, and other various metals and stone. The urn can also be personalized with engraved badges and ornaments. If you decide to scatter the ashes, there are specialized urns available which have hinged lids and special handles to ease the scattering. Keepsake urns are smaller than conventional cremation urns, and can be used when a family decides to divide the ashes among themselves.
